About The Position

The Staff Therapist I provides clinical services to clients. Provides clinical services to children and youth with illegal sexual behaviors and their families. The primary responsibilities of this person are to complete assessments of children and youth, conduct risk assessments, help formulate and implement individualized treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling services to the youth with problematic sexual behavior. Coordinates work with a designated treatment team. Travels within program catchment area to meet with clients, families, and professionals at juvenile courts, community partners, and client homes to provide assessment and treatment services. Assists with program's research and evaluation projects by updating and maintaining databases related to grants and research projects. Organizes and manages research data. Extracts and prepares data for research. Analyzes performance and outcomes. Works with research team to produce scholarly articles and presentations. Assists with literature reviews and gathering information for grant proposals.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, or social work.
  • Must be licensure eligible in the State of Alabama.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.
  • Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
  • A social work degree must be from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Persons who provide direct treatment services to youth with illegal sexual behaviors shall be licensed or license eligible to practice in their professional discipline by the appropriate State of Alabama licensing authority where applicable.
  • Persons who are licensed eligible must obtain their license within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience with children or youth with mental or behavior health diagnoses or court-involved children or youth.
  • Experience working with youth with illegal sexual behaviors.
