About The Position

Walmarts International Merchandising and Sourcing Technology team is tasked with developing and sustaining software platforms that empower Walmart to procure high-quality products at the most competitive prices and make them available where our customers need them at the best price, enabling them to save money and live better. In this role as a Staff Technical Program Manager, you will utilize your over seven years of technical program management experience and Agile software delivery expertise to facilitate successful software delivery, improving the Merchant and Sourcing associate experience through the latest technology. About Team: Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few. You will be part of the International Merchandising and Sourcing technical program management team driving execution for some of the organizations largest initiatives, creating tight collaboration between data science, engineering, product, and user experience improving our ways of working. You will focus on developing and implementing process improvements for delivering and monitoring programs to ensure team operational efficiency and compliance. Additional responsibilities include the following:

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Agile mindset and delivery of managing programs and projects using Scrum and Kanban
  • Organization around deliverables using a software system such as Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
  • Capacity Management expertise over multiple software development teams
  • Willingness to always learn and grow as an individual and team member
  • Be a leader and change advocate
  • Unbiased perspective when solving problems
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 3 years' experience in product design.

Responsibilities

  • Define goals, deliverables, schedules, and critical paths for managing multiple medium- to high-complexity programs within an assigned area of work, in alignment with overall strategic objectives and shifting priorities.
  • Independently secure commitment from teams involved and manages dependencies within an assigned area of work.
  • Apply technical understanding and judgement in developing end-to-end delivery plans for complex solutions that span multiple engineering teams. This includes independently identifying potential technical dependencies, managing design and architecture with engineering teams, guiding on tradeoff decisions, and ensuring the right development best practices and processes are being applied systemically to enable the right balance of speed, resiliency, and quality.
  • Independently monitor and evaluate the progress of multiple projects in a program against approved milestones, quality metrics, and timelines
  • Identify key risks and impacts under guidance from program teams/management to develop mitigation plans (solutions/options) and likelihood for managing issues
  • Develop consistent data-driven approaches and decision-making frameworks to remove program roadblocks and proactively drives business outcomes by analyzing program landscapes, changing priorities, and interdependencies
