About The Position

MX is a fintech company on a mission to empower the world to be financially strong. We build technology that helps banks, credit unions, and fintechs deliver smarter, more intuitive financial experiences to millions of people. Like many startups, we’ve navigated real growth challenges — and we’ve come out stronger on the other side. Today, MX is in a phase of renewed momentum and scale, with a solid foundation and a clear vision for what’s next. This is a place where thoughtful execution matters, innovation is encouraged, and individuals have real ownership over their work. Our culture values curiosity, accountability, and impact. We give people the space to question assumptions, design better solutions, and help shape how the company grows. If you’re looking to do meaningful work, influence outcomes, and grow alongside a company that’s ready to move fast, you’ll feel at home at MX. The Staff Technical Program Manager (Product) is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex software products and distributed systems. You will serve as the primary bridge between Product Management and Software Engineering (SWE), ensuring that ambitious product visions are translated into scalable, high-performance technical architectures. Unlike traditional program management, this role requires a deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). You will partner with engineering leads to navigate technical trade-offs, manage cross-team dependencies, and ensure the successful rollout of features that meet stringent security, scalability, and reliability standards. You are the "technical glue" that keeps cross-functional teams aligned—from initial system design through to production launch. As a Staff TPM, you will not only drive high-priority initiatives but also evolve our engineering processes to increase developer velocity and product quality. The ideal candidate has a background in software engineering or systems architecture and thrives in an environment where they can influence both the what (product strategy) and the how (technical execution).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management, specifically leading large-scale software delivery within an engineering organization.
  • Proven track record of managing the end-to-end SDLC for complex, distributed systems from initial concept through production launch.
  • Expertise in using modern program management tools and methodologies (e.g., Jira, Agile/Scrum) to drive engineering velocity and improve sprint health.
  • Experience managing high-priority portfolios, including strategic roadmapping, cross-team resource allocation, and technical risk mitigation.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide executive-level visibility and influence cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and partner with architects to ensure product requirements align with system scalability.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in financial planning, personnel management, and the execution of highly technical program goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to navigate high levels of technical ambiguity and operate autonomously at a leadership level to resolve complex blockers during zero-to-one product builds.
  • A systems-thinking mindset with experience developing long-term technical strategy and building business cases for architectural health (e.g., scalability or tech debt reduction).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to utilize engineering-specific metrics to guide decision-making and generate actionable product insights.
  • Demonstrated curiosity with a bias toward building automated inspection mechanisms and technical governance processes that drive continuous learning and accountability.
  • Fluency in executive technical storytelling and the ability to drive organizational change management.
  • 3+ years of direct experience in a technical role, such as Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), DevOps, or Systems Architect.
  • Experience in systemic change management.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Product Delivery: Drive the end-to-end execution of the product roadmap by partnering with Product Management to define requirements and software engineering to oversee technical implementation.
  • System Design and Architecture Review: Participate in technical design reviews and Requests for Comments processes. Act as a critical partner to SWE leads in evaluating technical trade-offs, such as scalability vs speed to market.
  • SDLC Optimization: Own and refine the software development lifecycle for your product area(s). Identify and remove bottlenecks in the development process to increase developer velocity and ensure high-quality, predictable deployments.
  • Dependency & Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage complex cross-team technical dependencies. Build and maintain dependency maps to ensure that platform changes, API updates or infrastructure shifts do not stall product delivery.
  • Technical Specs and Documentation: Translate high level product requirement documents into actionable technical execution plans. Ensure technical documentation including API contracts and systems diagrams is accurate and accessible to stakeholders.
  • Strategic Alignment: Facilitate and drive the relationship between product and engineering. Ensure that technical debt and architectural health are prioritized alongside new feature development in the long term roadmap.
  • Data Driven Governance: Define and track KPIs and OKRs for program health. Use metrics to provide executive-level visibility into progress and risks.
  • Release management: Oversee complex, multi-service release cycles. Coordinate with TechOps, InfoSec, and SRE to ensure product launches meet performance benchmarks and reliability standards.
