About The Position

Role summary: The (USA) Staff, Technical Program Manager leads the planning and execution of complex technology programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and managing cross-functional dependencies. About the team: The Sam’s eCommerce TPM team leads cross-functional initiatives to enhance the Member Experience by developing and maintaining key systems for online shopping, in-store pickup, and Scan & Go checkout. This geographically distributed team delivers innovative technology solutions that improve service offerings for members and associates. Team members collaborate across functions, applying strong program and stakeholder management skills to drive impactful results aligned with strategic goals. The focus is on building and deploying scalable systems that create seamless experiences, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence within the company’s evolving digital landscape.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in technical program management techniques, tools, and frameworks to lead medium to high-complexity programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to align cross-functional teams and secure commitments.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to a spectrum of audiences.
  • Experience with technology solutions including system design, cloud infrastructure, and software lifecycle management.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to assess risks, identify dependencies, and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing detailed program plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects, ensuring quality outcomes and operational excellence.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 3 years’ experience in product design.

Responsibilities

  • Define program goals, deliverables, schedules, and critical paths to manage multiple medium to high-complexity programs aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Secure commitment from cross-functional teams and manage dependencies to ensure seamless program execution.
  • Translate product requirements into technical designs and collaborate on system architecture for scalable, high-availability solutions.
  • Monitor program progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans to maintain quality and timelines.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and updates clearly to stakeholders and teams using appropriate channels.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying synergies, reducing waste, and proposing automation frameworks.
  • Establish and oversee operational excellence practices including monitoring, alerting, and release management.
