Staff Tax Accountant
About The Position
We are looking for a motivated individual that is looking to take their career to the next level with one of the fastest growing and most exciting apparel brands around! Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Staff Tax Accountant will be responsible for assisting with global tax compliance, business licensing, and audits. This role requires a detail-oriented professional to maintain accurate tax records and help ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good communication skills with an ability to work well with others but also independently. You will be a key member of the Tax team and the broader Finance team, helping build our story as we continue to re-define the apparel landscape!
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in accounting or finance
- 2+ years of experience in tax (public and/or private experience)
- Knowledge of tax-related laws and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Solid written and verbal communication skills are important
- Strong analytical skills including data analysis and excel skills, and familiarity using and extracting data from various systems
- Flexible team player that enjoys hands on responsibilities, with an ability to be proactive and a self-starter
Nice To Haves
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
- Apparel industry and experience with Microsoft D365 or Shopify a plus
- Experience with Avalara a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist with US and international tax compliance
- Prepare reconciliations for general ledger tax accounts
- Perform product taxability research and communicate necessary changes
- Assist with resolving tax notices and assessments from taxing authorities
- Assist in analyzing new tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, and implementing those that impact tax compliance
- Prepare tax journal entries as required
- Assist with registering new retail store locations
- Assist with the preparation of annual property tax filings
- Assist with tax research projects as needed
- Assist with income and sales tax audits as required
- Perform other tasks, duties and special projects as needed
