About The Position

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Staff Supervisor is responsible for the hiring, scheduling, training, and ongoing development of non-clinical staff. This role ensures staff are supported and equipped to provide high-quality client care, collaborating closely with the treatment team to meet client needs. As a member of the management team, the Staff Supervisor contributes to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and compliant environment for both clients and staff, in alignment with licensing, agency, and contract standards.

  • A degree in the field of social services and three years of experience in the social services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of supervisory experience desired or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience in a behavioral health, social services, or related human services setting.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Become CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • Driving is required: must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, be insurable under the agency liability policy, and be willing to drive for work purposes.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to learn and work with computer databases, as well as create forms and processes to support program operations.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
  • May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in staff training, development, and performance management preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and Motivational Interviewing principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Management Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes for Behavioral Health Technicians and Leads.
  • Maintain efficient staff schedules and ensure coverage for program operations, safety, and licensure compliance.
  • Hold regular bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide guidance, feedback, and professional development support.
  • Maintain and implement the staff training handbook, providing orientation and ongoing training in program practices, trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing, and other relevant topics.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and co-facilitate trainings with Program Manager and Clinicians to enhance staff skills and promote consistent service delivery.
  • Audit staff documentation and provide oversight to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant record-keeping.
  • Participate in management on-call schedule.
  • Licensing, Agency, and Contract Compliance Ensure program operations comply with all licensing, agency, and contract requirements.
  • Assist the Program Manager with overall program operations.
  • Participate in annual licensing processes and funder progress reports.
  • Complete incident reports promptly and accurately.
  • Community Coordination Maintain positive relationships with community partners, client families, agency donors, and emergency response services.
  • Record Keeping Train staff on proper documentation of client activities and provide oversight to ensure files and paperwork meet licensing and contract standards.
  • Conduct documentation audits to ensure compliance and identify staff training needs.
  • Ensure all program-related paperwork is completed, managed confidentially, and stored appropriately.
  • Client Services Utilize and promote trauma-informed practices in all interactions.
  • Manage challenging client behaviors and encourage adherence to program expectations.
  • Ensure a safe environment for clients and staff.
  • Facilitate groups as assigned.
  • Administer medications as needed.
  • Supervise and coordinate the UA (urinalysis) process for program clients.
  • Professional Conduct Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Attend work regularly and predictably.
  • Participate in various meetings and training as needed. (Daily staffing, weekly treatment team, monthly staff meetings, etc.)
  • Identify outside training opportunities for all staff.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
