About The Position

The Infotainment Team is at the core of reimagining what mobility can be. We are seeking an Embedded Linux Engineer with expertise in low-power system design, particularly in suspend-to-RAM (S3), deep sleep modes, and dynamic power management. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux kernel power management, device tree configurations, and hardware-software co-design for optimizing energy consumption in embedded systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Embedded Linux/Android Kernel Development (drivers, PM subsystems, device tree)
  • Suspend-to-RAM (S3), Deep Sleep, and QuickBoot experience
  • Strong debugging skills (ftrace, dmesg, pm_test, wakeup sources)
  • Device tree (DTS), regulator control, and power domains configuration
  • Experience with PMICs (Power Management ICs) and clock management
  • Familiarity with hardware schematics and power rail analysis
  • Experience with power measurement tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, power analyzers)
  • Experience debugging issues in the field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with hypervisors and OS running on a virtual machine
  • Experience implementing suspend/resume apps & software on Android
  • Experience recovering from suspend/resume failures

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize low-power modes (Suspend-to-RAM, Deep Sleep, and QuickBoot) in Embedded Linux/Android environments.
  • Work with device tree to configure power domains, wake sources, and regulator control.
  • Debug suspend/resume failures using tools like ftrace, powertop, pm-graph, wakeup sources debugging, and reading kernel logs.
  • Optimize SoC power consumption by analyzing power rails, clock gating, and dynamic voltage scaling.
  • Develop firmware and drivers for power-sensitive peripherals and interface with PMICs.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure efficient power domain partitioning and validate power rail sequencing.
  • Profile CPU, GPU, and peripheral power consumption and implement software optimizations for battery-powered systems.
  • Work with Yocto, Buildroot, or custom Linux distributions to implement and test power management features.

Benefits

  • Total compensation packages for this position include base salary, eligibility for an annual performance bonus, and eligibility for equity.
  • In addition, our benefits package has been designed to support the health and wellness of our employees. Benefit offerings include Flex Time Off, retirement savings plans as well as medical, vision and dental coverage.
