About The Position

THE WORK: Ripple is building the Internet of Value to move money as fast as information. To do that securely, we must establish trust at the very first interaction! As a Staff Software Engineer, you will define the architectural vision for the platform where every customer journey begins. You are not just building the "front door" for our global network, you are designing the blueprint for how it opens, scales, and secures the future of finance. We are transforming our Customer Onboarding Platform into a modern, engineering-owned ecosystem. You will lead the strategic initiative to decouple complex business logic from Salesforce, designing a robust, cloud-native service architecture from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to unwind years of technical debt and author the technical roadmap that powers onboarding for everything from Ripple Payments to our new Stablecoin. Your decisions will determine the reliability and speed of the global financial system. By solving high-ambiguity problems and balancing trade-offs between compliance, security, and velocity, you will help us scale the network responsibly. You are the technical anchor of our customer experience and the visionary behind our growth.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with deep expertise in Java, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Proven success acting as a system designer for large-scale migrations, specifically unwinding monoliths into service-oriented architectures.
  • Ability to navigate deep ambiguity, anticipating technical risks and bottlenecks before they impact delivery.
  • Strong influence and leadership skills, capable of driving consensus on complex technical trade-offs with stakeholders across the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fintech, identity verification, or building horizontal platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction and long-term architecture for our distributed backend services and shared infrastructure.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Compliance, and multiple engineering squads to transform high-level organizational goals into actionable engineering roadmaps.
  • Migrate core logic out of Salesforce, ensuring zero downtime and data integrity during the transition.
  • Evangelize engineering excellence by establishing org-wide standards for observability, reliability, and system health.
  • Mentor other engineers and influence the broader organization, fostering a culture of technical rigor and collective ownership.
