About The Position

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed Staff Services Manager (SSM) III who enjoys working in a fast paced environment to join the Fiscal Forecasting Branch (FFB). The Branch serves a key role in working with the Department's core programs to develop the Local Assistance Budget, meet the research and data needs required for sound decision-making, and provide fiscal policy and oversight of California's multi-billion dollar social service programs. We are a high functioning team and the work we do makes a difference to the millions of vulnerable Californians we serve. The FFB invites candidates with strong math and analytical skills and leadership experience to apply and compete. Under the general direction of the Branch Chief, the SSM III directs and oversees the work of two sections in the apportionment and development of the state budget and fiscal analysis related to legislation impacting the Bureau's programs. Duties include facilitating budget development meetings and presenting to program partners, the Directorate and control agency personnel. Candidates likely to be successful in this position will have at least a Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in business, math, statistics, finance, economics or science as well as prior experience in an analytical capacity. Experience with the child care and development programs is also beneficial.
