About The Position

Hybrid Telework Opportunity Under supervision, the Patient Data Section (PDS) Collects and edits comprehensive demographic, diagnostic and treatment information of all patients that were either Discharged from a California hospital, treated in a hospital emergency department, or have had an ambulatory surgery procedure in a hospital or a freestanding licensed surgical clinic. In the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) Information Services Division work environment, staff handle confidential patient data. Specific statutes and regulations, and HCAI policies and procedures, govern the collection, storage, disclosure, and use of confidential data. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and secure handling of this data in compliance with these policies and procedures. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. Working Conditions HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises. Telework schedules: The expectation is that all staff will work in office 4 days a week July 1, 2026. HCAI does not provide visa sponsorship and is not an E-Verify employer.

Requirements

  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 months experience in handling/disseminating confidential data
  • At least 6 months customer service experience
  • At least 6 months experience documenting facilities communications
  • At least 6 months experience with data review and analysis
  • At least 6 months familiarity with the Healthcare field, medical records, and/or International Classification of Diseases or Current Procedural Terminology coding
  • At least 6 months experience both working independently and with coordination of others on a project
  • At least 6 months experience with the interpretation or application of laws, regulations, or requirements
