About The Position

The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is recruiting to fill a Staff Services Analyst (SSA) position in the Certification Bureau in the Peace Officer Standards Accountability Division. POST may consider hiring at the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) level. Effective January 1, 2026, the SSA classification will be re-titled to Analyst I and the AGPA classification will be retitled to Analyst II. If a candidate is hired as of January 1, 2026, or later, they will be hired in the newly re-titled classification. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. This position is located at POST headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. The office is located in a two-story building with a business park setting. Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position. This position is Hybrid and may be eligible for telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

  • A COMPLETE STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) IS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ALONG WITH YOUR STATE APPLICATION. IF THE SOQ IS NOT SUBMITTED THE APPLICANT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR AN INTERVIEW.
  • THE SOQ SHOULD BE TYPED ON 8 1/2 X 11 PAPER USING 12-POINT ARIAL FONT, INCLUDING THE APPLICANT'S FULL NAME AND DATE AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. IT SHOULD NOT EXCEED 2 PAGES IN LENGTH.
  • Provide examples of your experience analyzing issues with reference to interpretation and application of various laws, regulations, and/or company policies and procedures.
  • Describe a work project you oversaw or played a key role in that you believe has best prepared you to be successful in this position. Please include specific details about your role and responsibilities, key tasks you completed, how you addressed any project challenges, and the measurable project outcomes achieved.
  • Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov. All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position.
