About The Position

We are currently searching for a Staff Scientist to provide specialized scientific services to support the research objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), primarily conducting and managing original research in hematology, contributing to the mission of the Hematology Branch (HB). Including delivering experimental data, scientific analyses, and publications aligned with NHLBI’s research goals. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 (FIVE) years of experience as an NIH postdoctoral fellow.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both in vitro and in vivo experiments using mouse models and human cell samples.
  • Proven track record of conducting state-of-the-art experimental techniques in flow cytometry.
  • Experience in preparing scientific manuscripts, delivering oral presentations, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust.
  • Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.

  • Proficiency in coordinating multiple research projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct original hematology research using both mouse models and human samples (healthy and patient-derived).
  • Independently design, execute, and manage scientific research projects and studies.
  • Perform data analysis, including statistical interpretation and graphical representation.
  • Ensure reproducibility of results through experimental replicates and validation studies.
  • Work independently and as a part of collaborative team in performing the experiments.
  • Draft and revise the manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare and deliver scientific presentations in weekly lab meetings and annual branch reviews.
  • Maintain comprehensive laboratory records, including digital notebooks and organized electronic data files.
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Conduct literature reviews and remain up to date on advances in the field.
  • Adhere to all NIH safety and biosafety guidelines, including proper use and handling of animals and human samples.
