We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist 2 who specializes in Risk Assessment to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in Oakland, CA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Toxicology.
  • 2+ years of related risk assessor experience or advanced degree.
  • Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks and assignments under the direction of senior staff.
  • Desire to learn and grow in their profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Environmental Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience in environmental analytical testing and data reduction techniques for soil, water, and air.
  • Strong chemistry and toxicology background and understanding.
  • Specialized software applications, including environmental fate and transport modeling, data mapping, and statistical programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project environmental data quality control review, reduction, and summarization.
  • Apply academic training and use computer software to perform calculations and evaluation of information including utilizing MS Excel and Access databases for data processing of environmental data to be used in environmental fate and transport models, statistical programs, and risk calculations.
  • Draft risk assessment-related technical sections of project communications and reports applying understanding of components of a risk assessment and regulatory guidance in interpreting the results.
  • Perform project risk assessment communication/presentation-related tasks.
  • Apply academic knowledge in toxicology to support Proposition 65 assessments, product assessments, and emerging contaminants assessments.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized tasks or project opportunities.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
