The Staff Research Associate will conduct a set of experiments in response to reviewer’s comments on revision of a manuscript. Broadly, the manuscript investigates the role of a steroid hormone, ADIOL, in linking metabolic state to neural mechanisms of healthspan. The experiments involve C. elegans as a model organism. The experiment will involve a mix of molecular genetics, behavioral assays, and imaging assay, all in C. elegans . Note : This is a limited position and will end 1 year after the start date. The primary responsibility of the Staff Research Associate (SRA I) is to assist in the identification of appropriate cases for sequencing, following required documentation and protocols as needed, obtain samples and be responsible for quality control and extraction of DNA/RNA from these samples. Samples are often very small, so the individual needs to be familiar with procedures for working with small samples. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).
