About The Position

The incumbent will be conducting research related to multiple neurosurgery studies including mouse colony maintenance, tissue processing, histology/immunohistology, FACS, cell isolation/culture, gene/protein expression and animal behavioral studies.

Requirements

BS in neuroscience, biology, chemistry, biophysics or related field
2 year of previous experience in neuroscience research preferred
1 year of previous experience with handling of rodents
Familiarity with standard laboratory practices and equipment operation
Computer literacy with emphasis on Windows 98/NT operating systems and software applications including Excel, Photoshop, and presentation software
Ability to accurately follow experimental protocols
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills
Strong accuracy and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

2 year of previous experience in neuroscience research preferred

Responsibilities

Perform genotyping and mice colony maintenance
Perform test substance administration via intravenous, intraperitoneal injections and oral gavage
Perform small animal surgery and animal tissue collection, including perfusion and dissection
Perform immunohistochemistry techniques on animal brain sections
Perform cell isolation and FACS staining/analysis
RNA extraction
Prepare assays and equipment for research studies
Maintain cell culture including BMDM using aseptic techniques
Perform laboratory administration activities including the maintenance and ordering of equipment and supply, and work orders
Perform other related duties as assigned
