About The Position

The incumbent will be conducting research related to multiple neurosurgery studies including mouse colony maintenance, tissue processing, histology/immunohistology, FACS, cell isolation/culture, gene/protein expression and animal behavioral studies.

Requirements

  • BS in neuroscience, biology, chemistry, biophysics or related field
  • 2 year of previous experience in neuroscience research preferred
  • 1 year of previous experience with handling of rodents
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory practices and equipment operation
  • Computer literacy with emphasis on Windows 98/NT operating systems and software applications including Excel, Photoshop, and presentation software
  • Ability to accurately follow experimental protocols
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year of previous experience in neuroscience research preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform genotyping and mice colony maintenance
  • Perform test substance administration via intravenous, intraperitoneal injections and oral gavage
  • Perform small animal surgery and animal tissue collection, including perfusion and dissection
  • Perform immunohistochemistry techniques on animal brain sections
  • Perform cell isolation and FACS staining/analysis
  • RNA extraction
  • Prepare assays and equipment for research studies
  • Maintain cell culture including BMDM using aseptic techniques
  • Perform laboratory administration activities including the maintenance and ordering of equipment and supply, and work orders
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
