This position will provide psychological services for WSH patients including but not limited to initial assessment, safety assessment, safety planning, psychological testing and assessment, and court testimony related to Western State (WSH) patients. This position will provide education and training opportunities as well as clinical supervision and feedback for predoctoral interns in an APA Accredited Internship and for post-doctoral residents seeking hours for licensure and Health Services Provider designation. Other duties may include participating in treatment teams, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, behavioral supports, and testing/assessment services for WSH patients, as well as providing crisis intervention services to staff when needs arise. Potential oversight/supervision of other licensed and non-licensed psychology staff. Occasional on-call weekend and holiday coverage is expected. Job knowledge – possesses working knowledge. Quality – accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness Maintain thorough and accurate documents of therapeutic interventions. Appropriate application of Department of Psychology’s operating policies and procedures Effective utilization of therapeutic techniques Develops appropriate individualized treatment plans following approved treatment plan guidelines. Completes appropriate legal documentation related to care at Western State Hospital Ability to demonstrate, guide, and direct psychological practice in the provision of care. Maintain monitoring and evaluation of psychological care through the quality assurance program in the Department of Psychology. Administers, scores, analysis, and interprets appropriate psychological tests. Productivity – quantity of work expected of the job assignment. Acceptance of assigned duties in the practice of psychology. Flexibility in performing duties related to assigned units. Ability to work with others in an efficient and timely manner. Attendance at regularly scheduled meetings relating to the practice of psychology. Participates in committee functions as psychology representatives on hospital committees and interdepartmental activities. Improvement in performance – works without close supervision, exhibits initiatives, makes decisions, contributes toward other employees’ development. Formulates necessary decisions on daily basis without supervision. Utilizes appropriate problem-solving skills for necessary clinical situation. Makes good clinical decisions based on available information presented by patients and other sources. Gives clear and decisive guidance and direction to others concerning each patient’s clinical status. Appropriately utilizes resources such as other people, equipment, facilities, and materials.
