About The Position

We’re looking for a Staff Product Marketing Manager to architect and own Chainguard’s messaging, positioning, content, and go-to-market strategy for the Public Sector. This role will focus on defining market-shaping narratives for U.S. Federal, State & Local Government, and Education (EDU) markets. You will serve as a strategic counterpart to our Public Sector sales leadership, orchestrating corporate marketing and product teams to cement Chainguard as the definitive partner for secure software supply chain solutions in government and education. This role requires a strategic storyteller and business leader with deep public sector expertise who can translate complex technology into mission-critical value propositions for technical evaluators, CISOs, and policymakers alike.

Requirements

  • Public Sector Authority: Deep experience in B2B technology marketing for Public Sector audiences, with a nuanced command of Federal procurement vehicles, SLED dynamics, and/or EDU market drivers.
  • Proven Strategic Impact: Demonstrated success not just in executing, but in defining GTM strategies for technical products in regulated markets, with a track record of influencing business outcomes.
  • Master Storyteller: Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into compelling, executive-level narratives that resonate with policymakers, CISOs, and technical evaluators alike.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Strong experience leading through influence in high-growth environments, capable of aligning product, engineering, and sales teams around a shared vision without direct authority.
  • Technical Familiarity: Understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, open source software, enterprise security, or compliance-driven technologies.
  • Execution & Agility: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company while balancing strategy with hands-on execution.
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to C-suite executives and large audiences.
  • Advanced Business Acumen: Strong analytical skills with the ability to model business cases, pricing scenarios, and TAM analysis (beyond basic spreadsheet modeling) to justify strategic bets.

Responsibilities

  • Messaging & Positioning: Architect category-defining positioning and build out the messaging, presentations, and core content that articulate Chainguard’s unique value for government and education customers.
  • Content Strategy: Drive the end-to-end content strategy for the Public Sector. Author high-impact thought leadership (whitepapers, executive briefs) that shapes market discourse, while guiding the creation of downstream sales assets.
  • Go-to-Market Orchestration: Build and orchestrate GTM strategies in partnership with Public Sector sales and marketing to accelerate adoption across Federal, State & Local, and EDU segments.
  • Enablement: Serve as a strategic anchor for the Public Sector field team. Develop enablement content and ensure sales, sales engineering, and channel partners are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
  • Economic Value Ownership: Own the economic narrative for the Public Sector. Build and iterate on the ROI model for public sector prospects, and conduct value assessments for those prospects during the sales cycle.
  • Executive Evangelism: Act as a primary industry evangelist and trusted advisor for key accounts and partners, driving high-level executive conversations and representing Chainguard at major industry forums. Influence standards bodies to align with Chainguard’s viewpoint.
  • Growth & Campaigns: Partner with demand generation and corporate marketing teams to design campaigns and events that resonate with public sector buyers.
  • Customer Engagement: Support customer and prospect conversations by participating in calls, presentations, and industry events; serve as a credible voice in the market.
  • Roadmap Influence: Partner deeply with Product Management and Engineering to influence the roadmap based on market signals, ensuring compliance drivers (FedRAMP, DoD IL, cATO, RMF, CMMC) are leveraged as strategic differentiators.

Benefits

  • Flexible & Remote-First Culture: Work remotely with team meetup opportunities, bi-annual destination summits, and a monthly stipend for coworking spaces, phone and internet costs.
  • Our Approach to Equity: Receive stock options upon hire and promotion. Plus, you can participate in secondary offerings and have 10 years to exercise your options (yes, you read that correctly: 10 years!).
  • 100% Covered Health Insurance: We cover 100% of your health, vision and dental insurance premiums for you and your dependents. Nothing comes out of your paycheck.
  • ∞ Flexible Time Off: Take the time you need – to do our best work, we need to recharge and reset.
  • 18 Weeks Paid Parental Leave: We offer 18 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents, with the option to use it all at once or throughout your child's first year.
