We work across surfaces on Etsy to identify the highest impact opportunities for our buyers and sellers, partner closely with both the Marketing and the broader Product organization, and operate with a focus on solving valuable customer problems and an emphasis on rapid learning and agile development. As the Staff Product Manager for Retention & Engagement, you will be responsible for the solutions communicating with millions of users via email, push, sms/rcs and future owned channels, guiding them in their shopping journeys, and inspiring them to return and shop on Etsy more often. You’ll manage a dynamic and evolving portfolio, driving $B+ in impact, partnering closely with Marketing and Product leaders. You will: Guide the development of cutting-edge ML/AI to personalize every communication in emails, push & sms. Build discovery flywheels where onsite actions power smarter offsite experiences, and offsite engagement brings buyers back to meaningful discovery on Etsy. Design experiences that drive long-term value for users, connecting them with the millions of artisans and creators that make Etsy unique. Deepen our understanding of users, and find the perfect trends & products matching their interests and needs, blending human expertise and algorithms. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Product, Drive & Land Traffic. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading product initiatives in high velocity tech companies with at least 3 years of experience in growth & retention problem spaces.
  • Strong record of using data-driven decision-making to increase customer frequency and retention, balanced by sharp intuition when data is incomplete.
  • Natural collaborator that understands how to share a vision and drive cross-functional alignment and work effectively in a matrixed organization structure.
  • Track record of building positive relationships with people and teams across a broad organization, including Marketing, Engineering, Design, Analytics, and Research.
  • An inspirational and clear communication style that embodies our guiding principles of leading with optimism and embracing differences.
  • A passionate member of the Etsy community and someone who believes in Etsy’s vision, mission and values.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing ML-powered and/or Marketing Technology products is a plus.
  • Experience working in e-commerce, retail, two-sided marketplaces or growth teams is a plus.

  • Drive the product strategy for our Retention & Engagement platform (email, push, sms) to deliver highly relevant and inspiring experiences to millions of Etsy users.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, ML, Engineering, Product Design, Data Science, Research, to develop customer-centric solutions
  • Leverage cutting-edge ML & automation to bring the stories of millions of sellers and their unique products to life.
  • Set a clear vision, define meaningful goals, and identify the biggest opportunities based on a deep understanding of Etsy’s user needs.
  • Build and maintain long-term product roadmaps aligned with Etsy’s broader Product and Marketing strategies.
  • Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, learning through testing, and customer-centered innovation.
  • Champion risk-taking, learning, and innovation, while always protecting the buyer experience and the business.
