ALSO is looking for a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to develop electronics systems for multiple micromobility platforms.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree or related fields with a focus on power electronics/power systems
  • 5+ years working in power electronics design, preferably traction inverter.
  • Experience designing and validating sensing circuits.
  • Experience with actuators (BLDC) and position sensors.
  • Proficiency with power switches (MOSFET, GaN, SiC).
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits including microcontrollers and peripherals, commonly used for power electronics applications.
  • Proficiency with common simulation tools, LTspice, PLECS, Matlab.
  • Hands on experience with low/high power lab equipment with voltage range up to 1kV.
  • Experience delivering products to the market.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for execution of power conversion PCBA development spanning design, development, validation, and production ramp.
  • Focus on highly integrated and cost-effective design of systems spanning 48–100 V and 1–10 kW peak power range.
  • Familiarity with common sensors used in actuation systems, including position sensors (encoders, resolvers, Hall-effect sensors, inductive sensors, etc.).
  • Plan schedules, development steps, test resources, and contract manufacturer EOL activities.
  • Work with systems engineering to author and ratify product requirements including cost, performance, reliability, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Perform simulation, analysis, and validation of critical circuits.
  • Perform worst-case circuit analysis and determine corresponding validation.
  • Specify and select critical components, and perform characterization, schematic capture, and layout of power electronics, controls, and auxiliary circuits.
  • Collaborate with the mechanical engineering team on sensor selection, design, and validation.
  • Collaborate with firmware and controls teams on hardware integration and control strategies.
  • Work with functional safety peers to identify critical diagnostics and protection circuits and deliver appropriate design implementations.
  • Compile DFMEA, PFMEA, and validation plans.
  • Perform hands-on integration and test activities while directing and collaborating with test peers and external resources such as certification labs and contract manufacturers.
  • Support thermal, EMC, reliability, and NVH testing.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and firmware peers to execute a complete system solution.
  • Provide status updates in program meetings and to leadership.
