The Team As a Platform Engineer at Celonis, you will join the team building the very backbone of our platform. This role offers real ownership over critical infrastructure decisions that impact our entire engineering organization. The Role You will operate at a massive scale, managing solutions for hundreds of Kubernetes clusters and millions of cloud resources across all three major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, and GCP. We are looking for engineers with a bias for action who can balance speed with long-term goals and isn't afraid to take on complex challenges with independence and curiosity. Staff Engineer is the role model for the rest of the engineering team, they are shaping engineering culture and set standards, mentor and coach less experienced engineers. Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • Real-world experience operating highly available services in Kubernetes.
  • Experience with at least one of the following cloud providers: AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture.
  • Deep expertise in at least one core domain (cloud, Kubernetes, DevEx, security, observability) with working knowledge of at least two additional domains sufficient to engage in technical discussions and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Track record of independently owning large problem spaces with ambiguity.
  • Evidence of improving efficiency or quality across more than one team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating Kubernetes clusters is a strong plus.
  • Experience extending Kubernetes (e.g., writing operators) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Develop tools that enable managing hundreds of Kubernetes clusters and millions of cloud resources.
  • Ensuring high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency of platform offerings.
  • Bootstrap and lead critical infrastructure initiatives and projects, directly influencing the architectural direction and operational excellence of the entire engineering organization.
  • Shape engineering culture; set and maintain software engineering standards; mentor and coach engineers.
