About The Position

Thrive Proactive Health is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist to join our outpatient sport and spine private practice. This role begins part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) with the potential to expand to full-time as caseload grows. We are looking for a clinician who values high-quality, patient-centered care, strong clinical reasoning, and collaborative teamwork within an interdisciplinary environment. This is a staff-level clinical role with primary focus is direct patient care, clinical oversight of assigned patients, and supervision of care team members in accordance with Virginia regulations. The Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for delivering high-quality physical therapy services including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcomes assessment. The PT leads the clinical care team for their assigned patients, ensuring appropriate utilization and supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), Athletic Trainers (ATCs), Rehab Aides, and Exercise Specialists. The PT maintains full responsibility for patient management, plan of care oversight, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Virginia Physical Therapist License
  • DPT or Master’s degree from CAPTE-accredited program
  • Current CPR certification
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and collaborate effectively with PTAs and rehab care team members
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Patient Evaluation & Plan of Care Development
  • Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations and assessments
  • Develop evidence-based, individualized plans of care
  • Establish measurable goals and determine appropriate delegation of interventions
  • Modify plans based on patient progress or changes in condition
  • Conclude episodes of care appropriately and ensure clear communication
  • Intervention & Patient Care
  • Deliver safe and effective therapeutic interventions
  • Supervise PTAs and care team members within regulatory guidelines
  • Ensure proper utilization of support staff based on complexity and acuity
  • Personally perform services requiring PT-level expertise and decision-making
  • Progress Monitoring & Documentation
  • Conduct required re-examinations and adjust care accordingly
  • Complete accurate documentation within required timeframes
  • Oversee documentation completed by PTAs and support staff
  • Provide consultation and collaboration to ensure treatment effectiveness
  • Clinical Supervision & Team Collaboration
  • Communicate clearly with PTAs and care team members regarding patient plans
  • Conduct supervisory visits as required by Virginia regulations
  • Maintain accessibility for consultation and oversight
  • Contribute to a collaborative and professional clinic environment
  • Clinical Outcomes & Patient Experience
  • Take responsibility for outcomes and patient feedback related to assigned caseload
