About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY Performs a variety of procedures necessary in the diversified duties of Physical Therapy from the physicians order and general instruction. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an approved course in Physical Therapy. Experience: Prefer 1-2 years of physical therapy experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to perform all duties associated with the position of Physical Therapist. Good physical condition is necessary to endure stresses of the job. License/Certification/Registration: Must be a licensed Physical Therapist or eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Receives general supervision from the Manager, Hospital Outpatient Clinics. SUPERVISION GIVEN None Responsibilities  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides direct patient care services in the Diabetes Foot Clinic. Evaluates patients prior to initiating prescribed treatment procedures. Follows the treatment as prescribed or contacts the physicians regarding any necessary changes. Administers the treatment procedures accurately. Provides patient education during the course of treatment. Trains department’s support staff. Provides Physical Therapy clinical direction to students in matters relating to the Diabetes Foot Clinic. Provides in-service training on new Physical Therapy treatment procedures as needed. Consults with inter-hospital departments regarding patient status and treatment protocols. Communicates with Medical Center staff regarding Diabetes Foot Clinic services as appropriate. Informs social service personnel of patient’s status and needs on deposition, when requested. Collaborates with rehab-disciplines in providing/coordinating patient services, when applicable. Maintains proper documentation of treatment procedures. Initial evaluation notes include assessment, treatment goals and plan of care based upon evaluations. Daily progress notes include updates of patient status and treatment recorded. Discharge summaries include the patient’s progress or lack of progress. Completes fee charges on a daily basis and gives them to office staff daily. Maintains professional growth/development to enhance the department’s patient care services. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to achieve departmental and patient goals. Demonstrates enthusiasm and is committed to assisting the department staff in reaching goals. Participates and contributes to the department’s Performance Improvement Program. Maintains competency through self-study, peer review, and continuing education. Acts independently in decision making within professional standards and organization guidelines. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
