This position is for an Ophthalmologist within the Ophthalmology Department at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Associates, Inc. (MEEA), which is part of the Mass General Brigham system. The role involves providing comprehensive ophthalmology medical and surgical services, including participation in call schedules and rotation to various Mass General Brigham sites as needed. Key responsibilities include supervising and training residents and medical students, maintaining high clinical quality and productivity, and actively participating in departmental academic activities such as lectures, rounds, and committee assignments. The Staff Ophthalmologist is expected to professionally represent the department, develop referral and educational relationships regionally and nationally, and establish a presence as a clinical leader through participation in professional meetings. The role also entails developing and securing funding for academic activities like translational research, clinical trials, or educational programs, as well as participating in quality assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies. Administrative and committee duties may be assigned by the Chief or Service Director, including organizing continuing medical education courses. The successful candidate must be willing to see patients at Mass Eye and Ear, MEEA, MEE satellite locations, or other affiliated sites, and is expected to perform duties capably while adhering to all relevant medical staff by-laws, rules, policies, and procedures, including those applicable to Harvard Medical School faculty members.
