About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Under general supervision, the Pediatric Hematology Coordinator develops and uses advanced clinical management, consultation, education and research to promote quality care for the specific hematology patient populations to include sickle cell disease and vascular anomalies. Provides growth in a clinical knowledge through research- based practice with peers. Supports and maintains the University Health System's policies, protocols, values and guest relations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an RN and a minimum of Four (4) years nursing experience required and six months experience in the sickle cell patient population preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required or must be attained within three years of date of hire. An ability to establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff and other health care disciplines and understanding of the consultative process.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an RN
  • Minimum of Four (4) years nursing experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required or must be attained within three years of date of hire
  • An ability to establish cooperative working relationships with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff and other health care disciplines and understanding of the consultative process.
  • Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required.
  • Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.

Nice To Haves

  • six months experience in the sickle cell patient population preferred.
  • National certification in related field is preferred.
