About The Position

Banyan Treatment Centers, a dual diagnosis facility in Castle Rock, CO, is seeking a full-time, nightshift Licensed Practical Nurse to join their nursing team as a Staff/Floor Nurse. This role involves providing crucial direct patient care services to individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions, ensuring high standards of care and regulatory compliance. The position reports to the department's Director and receives direct shift support from designated shift leads. Your daily work will directly contribute to life-changing outcomes for patients overcoming addiction and mental health adversities. As a nightshift Staff Nurse (LPN), you will join a mission-driven, nationally recognized organization, work within a full-continuum, 60-bed dual diagnosis facility (from medically monitored detox through residential and PHP), make a direct impact on patients, receive competitive, experience-based compensation ($30–$35/hr base, plus shift and weekend differential), and grow professionally with support for continuing education unit credits and tuition discounts.

Requirements

  • An active unrestricted LPN license in Colorado
  • Nursing degree/diploma from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Working knowledge of nursing standards of care for patients with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, objectivity, and composure in high-stress or emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • 2 or more years of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Work experience within an inpatient dual-diagnosis (SUD & MH) setting is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with KIPU EMR system

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and medical provider in accordance with medical protocols and scope of practice.
  • Assist in completing nursing assessments and required admission documentation within established timeframes, with assessments reviewed and co-signed by an RN as required.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and within scope of practice; provide medication education as directed.
  • Monitor patient medical status, report changes promptly, and assist in initiating appropriate interventions, referrals, or emergency response as indicated.
  • Monitor patients for psychiatric symptoms, medication effectiveness, and safety concerns, and report changes to the RN, provider, or treatment team as appropriate.
  • Apply sound clinical judgment in crisis situations, including suicide risk awareness, de-escalation techniques, and patient safety interventions, escalating concerns to an RN or provider as required.
  • Accurately transcribe, document, and implement provider orders, including verbal orders when permitted.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary team members to support integrated patient care.
  • Communicate patient health concerns to nursing and clinical leadership and participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with licensure, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support medication management and controlled substance processes in collaboration with Compliance and nursing leadership, as applicable.
  • Maintain required certifications, training, and continuing education in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in in-service education, department meetings, and staff meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, adaptability, and effective teamwork in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of practice.
