Overview Children’s Mercy is home to one of a very few Comprehensive Colorectal Centers in the nation. We take a team-based approach to care for children with colorectal conditions such as Hirschsprung disease and other anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. At the Children's Mercy Comprehensive Colorectal Center (CCC), you will find the highest level of pediatric colorectal care. The care team includes providers who are nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence. Children who we treat surgically receive the highest level care possible through our accredited surgery center. Registered Nurses in the Surgery Clinics provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require hospital care. Registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned patients. Registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs. Registered nurses coordinate patient care with non-clinical personnel as necessary. Surgery clinic staff nurse job responsibilities include clinic patient management in collaboration with the provider and care team, collection and acquisition of pertinent clinical records including labs/pathology, operative reports, and radiology reports/imaging phone triage. Surgery clinic staff nurses will provide patient care coordination to ensure high quality care delivery. Clinic nursing staff will participate in performance improvement initiatives for the department and provide clinical nursing support as needed to any services reporting up through the Surgery Clinics. Surgery Clinic staff are responsible for understanding the surgery scheduling process and assisting as needed.
