We’re searching for a Staff ME/EDS Routing Design Engineer. In this role you will: Work within the Hardware Product Engineering group collaborating on integration of complex hardware on OEM vehicle platforms Responsible for electrical distribution system designs including automotive grade wire and cable harnesses, electromechanical components, device connectors and vehicle networks Design CAD assemblies integrating COTs and internally developed hardware modules, in various zones of a vehicle Adapt integration assemblies to multiple vehicle types (cars, trucks) understanding the platform specific requirements Deliver well engineered 3D and 2D CAD packages to internal and external vendors for fabrication and assembly Detail 2D drawings with appropriate views, notes, and GD&T for proper fabrication Maintain a solid understanding of various part design and manufacturing methods (Harnessing, clipping, fluid routing, machining, injection molding, sheet metal, forming, casting) Ensure technical designs are implemented during development, prototype builds, and launch Engage with build techs to assemble and test prototype hardware on the vehicles Collaborate with manufacturing and build teams to prototype and assemble designs on the vehicles for validation Resolve electrical and mechanical interfaces between Aurora technology and OEM vehicle Diagnose system integration issues, and pinpoint resolution Collaborate to support the development and implementation of cross functional requirements Maintain platform certification and regulatory compliance by working closely with internal Safety, Legal, and Regulatory teams Track all details of assigned sub-systems including requirements, BOMs, mass roll-ups, and schedules Develop new workflows and processes in order to expand the depth and breadth of the teams capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related.
  • Detailed knowledge with CAD design and PLM tools
  • Intuitive knowledge of harness design, part design, material selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to own projects and sub-systems as an independent self starter
  • Strong technical documentation and communication of technical information
  • Strong 2D/3D CAD skills with Catia/3DX, SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Zuken E3 or comparable CAD tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical harness and routing CAD design in the automotive or autonomous vehicle industry
  • Catia/3DX proficiency
