We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Staff Manufacturing Engineer to provide full engineering support during night shift operations . This individual will be the primary technical resource onsite , responsible for ensuring smooth production, troubleshooting equipment and process issues. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and can work independently with minimal supervision while providing technical leadership to the night shift team . This role will report to Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and based in Newark, DE. This is a fully on-site, in office role .

Requirements

  • Engineering degree required – Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high-volume or complex assembly operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems .
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 tools is a plus.
  • Proficient in applying Lean and Six Sigma principles, including Kaizen, SMED, and Yamazumi, to optimize line balance and takt time.
  • Skilled in CAD tools (SolidWorks), DFM, GD&T, ERP/MRP/MES systems and data visualization platforms (Quicksight, Tableau, Power BI).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment , robotics, and automated systems.
  • Hands-on experience deploying PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and SCADA systems (Ignition, WinCC) to automate and monitor production processes.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 tools including digital twins (Siemens Tecnomatix, Dassault DELMIA), IIoT platforms, and MES systems (Tulip, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens Opcenter).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the sole technical authority during night shift operations, supporting all manufacturing processes and equipment, making critical decisions to maintain production continuity.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to resolve technical challenges and maintain product quality.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within the night shift team.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions during shift meetings and escalate issues appropriately
  • Provide clear communication and direction to night shift supervisors and operators during technical challenges
  • Document shift activities, issues, and resolutions for handoff to day-shift engineering and management teams.
  • Monitor and optimize process performance , ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, PFMEA) to resolve production issues and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support preventive maintenance and coordinate emergency repairs as needed.
