Staff Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist

About The Position

Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC Company has an immediate opening for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer or Staff Engineering Geologist (not environmental) or Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada to be responsible for the following duties: conducting geotechnical investigations and analysis, performing boring layout for utility clearance and acquiring permits from public agencies, supervising/coordinating with and scheduling subcontractors such as drill rigs and backhoes, classifying soils, logging borings, test pits, and cores, performing floor level surveys, performing or aiding geophysical testing, reviewing plans and specifications, and preparing geotechnical reports and letters. Additionally the Staff Geotechnical Engineer, Staff Geologist or Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer will be also assist project managers with the accumulation and compilation of geotechnical and geological data, responsible for assignments and compilation of laboratory testing and geotechnical calculations, including calculations pertaining to shallow and deep foundation design, pavement section design, retaining walls, slope stability analysis, liquefaction, and settlement.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology or related field required
  • 0-3 years of experience, preferably with a geotechnical consulting firm performing duties described above
  • thorough understanding and knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • positive attitude
  • good organizational skills
  • strong indoor and outdoor work ethic
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team member

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Geology preferred.
