Newfire is seeking a Staff Engineer with SaaS experience to drive the modernization and spearhead the development of a unified, next-generation clinical technology platform for a current healthcare client. This new platform will serve as the foundation for all clinical data and operations across every line of business. By creating a robust and innovative solution, this leader will enable enhanced care management, utilization management, and data-driven decision-making—ultimately working to improve healthcare outcomes for millions of Americans. As a Staff Software Engineer at Newfire Global Partners, you are a technical leader who drives impact through both direct contribution and organizational influence. You operate as a force multiplier for patient-facing experiences and clinician-facing tools, shaping technical direction, architectural decisions, and engineering culture. You are sought out for technical guidance across the organization, anticipate issues at the product level, and make architectural decisions that ensure the long-term health of our systems. This role requires a proven track record of creating sweeping improvements in stability, performance, and scalability across business-critical systems while multiplying the effectiveness of others through mentorship, process improvement, and cross-team facilitation. You set 6-12 month technical direction, write business cases for technical investments, and participate in leadership decision-making while maintaining a strong individual contributor presence through prolific contributions to core and side projects.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in .NET(backend), React (web front-end), with comprehensive understanding of modern full-stack architecture, workflow, service architectures and data-powered applications
  • Proficient with multiple modern stacks including node frameworks
  • Technically curious and technology-agnostic, able to work on diverse assignments across multiple clients.
  • Proven track record of architecting, implementing, and shipping large-scale, business-critical systems that deliver measurable customer and business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to create sweeping technical improvements across multiple systems, with concrete examples of stability, performance, or scalability wins.
  • Experience setting technical direction and strategy for teams, with ability to look 6-12 months ahead and prioritize highest-impact work.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to work effectively with product managers, clinical stakeholders, and executive leadership. 2 years as technical lead is required.
  • Proven ability to write compelling business cases and technical proposals that drive organizational decisions and resource allocation.
  • Expert at reducing complexity and finding elegant solutions to difficult technical problems, with demonstrated impact on team velocity.
  • Extensive experience with design reviews, architectural decision-making, and establishing engineering processes that scale across multiple teams.
  • Deep understanding of the tradeoffs between technical debt, feature velocity, and system quality, with proven judgment in making these decisions.
  • Skilled at facilitating technical discussions, building consensus, and communicating decisions clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to multiply team effectiveness through mentorship, code review, technical guidance, and process improvement.
  • Track record of identifying and mitigating both technical and non-technical risks on complex, multi-team projects.
  • Experience working on healthcare products and with healthcare data is a must.
  • Ability to work across time zones and cultures

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority across patient and clinician product surfaces, owning and driving architectural decisions that span multiple teams and systems.
  • Anticipate technical issues at the product level and make proactive architectural and design decisions to prevent them, ensuring system resilience and scalability.
  • Own and maintain expertise on large sections of the codebase (.NET, React web front-end, and data warehouse ), serving as the go-to resource for complex technical challenges.
  • Create and ship sweeping improvements in stability, performance, and scalability across major business-critical systems, with measurable impact on customer experience.
  • Design, implement, and maintain processes and reviews to ensure high-quality architectural and design decisions are made consistently across both pods.
  • Manage stakeholders across product, clinical, and engineering teams to participate effectively in the design process, building consensus on complex technical approaches.
  • Make difficult technical calls on approach and build persuasive arguments for complex cases, balancing technical excellence with business pragmatism.
  • Write business cases for significant technical investments and participate in the engineering leadership team decision-making process.
  • Design processes to create a healthy pipeline of work into the team, ensuring engineering capacity is allocated to highest-impact initiatives.
  • Deliver on estimates and plans for whole-team initiatives, coordinating across both pods to ensure successful execution.
  • Consistently reduce the complexity of projects, services, and processes to enable teams to accomplish more with less work.
  • Spot subtle fundamental issues in systems, architecture, and processes before they become major problems.
  • Identify and mitigate complex project risks, both technical and non-technical, proactively managing dependencies and communicating mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure quality through establishing and maintaining code review processes, testing plans, and engineering standards across teams.
  • Shape broad architecture decisions that affect the entire technical organization; ship multiple large services, complex libraries, or major pieces of infrastructure.
  • Make an obvious positive impact on the company's technical trajectory through strategic direction-setting and technical leadership.
  • Multiply the effectiveness of engineers through facilitation of cross-team work, mentorship, and technical guidance.
  • Listen and guide technical debates to help teams reach consensus; clearly communicate and back decisions once made, ensuring organizational alignment.
  • Set short to medium-term strategic technical direction (6-12 months), identifying areas of greatest technical need and creating actionable plans to address them.
  • Facilitate cross-pod collaboration on initiatives that span patient and clinician experiences, ensuring technical coherence across the product.
  • Recognized as a prolific contributor to both core product work and side projects that improve engineering effectiveness and system quality.
