About The Position

Join Samsung Austin Semiconductor as a Staff Engineer for the Industrial Water Treatment (IWT) team and play a pivotal role in a major plant transition. This position is centered on providing expert mentorship and technical guidance to the IWT engineering team as we take over operations of the Blue Sky Wastewater Treatment Plant from Epcor. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for preparing the team for both startup and sustained operations by developing and reviewing maintenance procedures and ensuring best practices are followed. Leveraging over 12 years of experience and deep mechanical engineering knowledge, this role requires a collaborative leader adept at problem-solving, project management, and effective communication with internal customer organizations. Your ability to drive innovation, forecast system capacity needs, and assist with all phases of project design and commissioning will be key to success.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in an Engineering environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring the IWT engineering team during the transition of the Blue Sky WWTP from Epcor to a Samsung led treatment plant.
  • Preparing the IWT engineering team for both start up and sustaining operations.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and systems including air handling, industrial chilled water, heating, process piping, pumps, pneumatics, fans, rotating equipment, vibration analysis, heat transfer, and psychrometrics
  • Provides guidance to personnel, management and executives on technical projects or large-scale changes
  • Maintains a technical focus on capacity management, problem solving, root cause analysis, engineering design, cost estimating, financial management, project management, and system documentation
  • Develops and reviews operations and maintenance procedures and programs with junior engineers to ensure the use of best practices
  • Forecasts system capacity needs based on current and future demand projections.
  • Develops plans to accommodate projected system demand needs through capital improvement projects and other innovative means
  • Successfully interfaces with internal customer organizations and maintains effective communication throughout
  • Seeks out innovative concepts/technologies and drives them to implementation
  • Assists with system design, construction, startup & commissioning
