About The Position

In this role, you will be a member of the Architecture, Controls, and Systems team, responsible for architecting, implementing, and integrating platform software across Rivian’s controls boards. The platform includes drivers, operating systems, middleware, and application frameworks necessary for all aspects of vehicle controls. Through close collaboration with Hardware and Application Software teams, you will build the foundation of Rivian’s vehicle software.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware development, preferably with vertically integrated consumer products
• B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Expert C programming skills
• Deep familiarity of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
• Embedded software development and optimization expertise
• Understanding of multi-threaded and multi-core programming
• Proficient with software development on microcontrollers
• Experience with software development for systems with live sensor inputs
• Good team player with great communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
• Passionately motivated to take ideas from R&D phase to a product

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate the foundational platform software for Rivian controls boards, from initial bring-up to shipping to customers, including drivers, operating systems, and middleware
• Design, develop and deploy embedded software for applications including power management, vehicle reset, occupancy detection, and over-the-air update (OTA)
• Collaborate with the hardware team on overall design, schematics, and hardware validation
• Work closely with other development and cross-functional team members such as Charging, Body Controls, Infotainment, and Vehicle Dynamics to ensure the platform is meeting application requirements
