About The Position

Staff Educator is responsible for operationalizing and maintaining departmental and/or organizational training programs for UAMS, as well as researching and aligning educational resources with strategic focus areas of higher complexity and of a technical nature. In addition to planning and leading patient access training initiatives, this individual’s responsibilities also include the development and delivery of multi-media training materials and curricula monitoring quality and performance metrics, keeping the Quality Assurance and Access Leadership apprised of results, and using data to identify and develop targeted opportunities for staff development for the individual, departmental, and organizational-wide presentation while maintaining the training calendar and database. This position will require some travel and the ability to drive for UAMS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Adult Education, Educational Leadership, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Plus 5 years experience in training, teaching, or business coaching; QA, billing, registration, authorizations, or schedule.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Formal classroom teaching experience
  • Proven success in developing curricula and training resources
  • Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures concerning billing and collections
  • Quality Review experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills deadlines
  • Highly developed critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative analysis and attention to detail
  • Ability to simplify and communicate concepts to a variety of individuals
  • Ability to account for individual needs/learning styles when educating staff
  • Ability to engage and motivate staff members at all levels
  • Ability to develop curriculum, instructor guides, and training materials

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience working with EPIC Cadence in a large hospital, Access Center environment, or healthcare delivery system
  • Two (2) years of experience with medical terminology, Epic systems, or Patient Access training
  • CHAA or CHAM certification.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively anticipates, mitigates, and/or resolves workflow issues.
  • Solves issues/problems reported and assigned to the team via email and ServiceNow while working with operational end-users, leadership, and Epic trainers.
  • Provides one-on-one targeted training in response to performance deficiencies, and promotes a collaborative environment by addressing issues in a constructive and proactive manner.
  • Reviews, monitors, and documents staff performance by assessing competencies through quality audits
  • Regularly review pre-registration and registrations for completion and accuracy.
  • Documents performance deficiencies and makes training recommendations based on audit results
  • Provides detailed quality performance reports to the Quality Assurance and Access Leadership team, highlighting strengths, areas of concern, and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement targeted action plans based on quality data to enhance patient access services.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of audit results, feedback, and follow-up actions in designated databases or systems.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
