About The Position

The Staff Development Specialist provides initial orientation training, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department for all and other Children’s Division affiliates as assigned.  The Staff Development Specialist also is responsible for providing ongoing/refresher training to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and internal requirements.   Responsible for obtaining and maintain all training certifications as required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Higher in human services or related field.
  • Experience serving in a training capacity.
  • State and Federal Compliance Requirements
  • Safe Crisis Management (SCM)
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification
  • Trauma Training
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Cultural Awareness
  • Confidentiality/HIPAA
  • 40 hours of annual training after initial year of employment (30 hours initial year)
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend information. Ability to effectively communicate with employees and administration. Ability to professionally write detailed reports.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written and oral directions. Ability to interpret routine instructions without difficulty.  Ability to apply rational/calm reasoning when confronted with difficult and/or ambiguous situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the Relias training system.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) preferred
  • Experience working with children in a residential capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions with autonomy, flexibility, diplomacy, and professionalism when training.
  • Obtains and maintains certifications when required.
  • Attend training programs when assigned.
  • Conducts New Employee Development (NED), specialized training such as Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and other ongoing trainings as required.
  • Implements training policies and procedures and recommending changes when needed.
  • Fosters a working relationship with employees, supervisors, and administrative staff.
  • Assists with scheduling and notifying employees of training programs.
  • Prepares classrooms for training sessions.
  • Reports attendance to Director of Staff Development.
  • Develop new training programs as necessary, either by working with others to create/upload trainings to Relias or coordinating internal or external speakers.
  • Input and update information into the tracking system as required.
  • Assists with maintaining and auditing employee training files.
  • Travel to regional offices to conduct training or arranges with training staff.
  • Create and distribute communication to employees as required.
  • Participation and members on agency committees as assigned.
  • Work hours include evenings and weekends.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
