The Revenue and Marketing Data Science Team at Walmart Global Tech is dedicated to incubating and developing data-driven, ML/AI solutions that help Walmart, suppliers, sellers, creators and influencers connect with followers and customers through Marketing, Advertising and Social Commerce to reimagine discovery, storytelling, and personalization at scale. We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in multimodal generative AI, large language models and deep learning to elevate our AI initiatives. Requirements

  • Expertise in working with deep-learning based generative/multi-modal models or similar research experience with deep-learning/AI
  • Experience in the following areas – multimodal Generative Models for Text generation, Image generation, Audio and Video generation
  • Experience in VLMs for Image classification, object detection, scene/semantic segmentation, keypoint detection, CLIP/similar for similarity
  • Experience in models for multimodal synthetic data generation
  • Experience with large deep-learning model fine-tuning and deployment
  • Experience with prompt engineering and agentic AI design
  • Solid understanding of Python and expertise in working with data science related packages (Numpy, Pandas, Pytorch etc.)
  • Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, data science, mathematics or other discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, economics, psychology) that exposes scientific methods of research and analysis. PhD degree is a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following programming Languages, Cloud technologies Gen AI focus, DL frameworks: Java, Python, Bash, Pytorch, BigQuery, SQL, Distributed training and Inference Frameworks, GPU MLOPS and CICD, FAISS, Vector Stores, Agent SDKs
  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Publications in top ML/AI/NLP conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, EMNLP, ACL, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, KDD etc.) are a plus.
  • Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics
  • Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
  • Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch)
  • We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply state-of-the-art deep learning based generative models and multi-modal models such as text generation, image generation, video generation and capturing multimodal data relationships etc
  • Proficient in evaluating trade-offs between open source vs Cloud APIs for multimodal Gen AI in terms of performance, cost efficiencies.
  • Work with large scale data and curate in house domain datasets from scratch.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to define interfaces, understanding and resolving dependencies
  • Standardize and build scalable and highly available systems that follow operational best practices
  • Develop visuals and reports to efficiently communicating model results and insights to business teams
  • Maintain world-class academic credentials through patent applications, publications, conference presentations, and external collaboration and service to the research community.
