The Staff Commodity Business Manager is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for electronic components and OEM equipment. This role manages supplier relationships, drives cost reduction initiatives, ensures supply continuity, and supports new product development. The position requires deep technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing and a strong understanding of global supply markets. This position is part of the Global Operations Team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA, on-site. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, supplier identification and selection, and supplier development Generate tactical and strategic commodity roadmaps that drive improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and working capital Research and identify new technologies and industry trends in connectivity, electronics, compute and data management Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure end-user requirements are sufficiently detailed for sourcing and procurement Manage supplier risk through identification and mitigation of supplier operational and financial deficiencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business with 8+ years of work experience; Master’s degree in field with 6+ years of related experience; Doctoral degree in with 3+ years of work experience
  • Direct experience leading cross-functional teams to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
  • Deep expertise in sourcing and lifecycle management of advanced compute hardware and related components, including computer boards, system-on-modules (SOMs), voltage regulator modules (VRMs)/power management ICs (PMICs), high-speed memory, storage devices, PCB fabrication and assembly, and firmware provisioning. Must understand integration across hardware, firmware, and system-level software.
