GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Staff Appraiser II analyzes appraisals, conducts appraisal reviews, and performs market evaluations to support credit decisions and assists with providing safe, sound real estate lending activity. This position will assume a leadership role with the appraisal specialist staff, while providing technical guidance. The Staff Appraiser II may also assist with monitoring the daily workflow of the department, and assist with procedures and training of staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Perform in-house real estate evaluation reports in narrative form by providing an estimate of the property's market value, including appropriate approaches, as applicable. 2. Perform appraisal reviews to determine whether the methods, assumptions and value conclusions are reasonable and the appraisal contains sufficient information to support a credit decision. 3. Verify that each appraisal review complies with regulations, supervisory guidelines, and bank policy. 4. Communicate any deficiencies of an appraisal to the appraiser and follow-up for corrections, as applicable. 5. Collaborate with third party reviewers, appraisers and loan officers to resolve open questions and issues with appraisal assignments and appraisal compliance. 6. Provide technical guidance to departmental staff regarding USPAP and Interagency Guidelines. 7. Oversee outsourced evaluation reports received. 8. Provide input regarding the bank's list of active appraisers. 9. Become knowledgeable of and actively use the Real Estate Information Appraisal Management System. 10. Review technical performance of Appraisal Specialists. 11. Assist with monitoring the work flow of the Appraisal Specialists. 12. Facilitate training of new staff on the department's procedures and daily tasks. 13. Partner with department staff, lending staff and outside appraisers to establish an accurate Scope of Work for Appraisal assignments. 14. Participate with team management in interviewing and hiring decisions for departmental staff. 15. Collaborate with departments such as Loan Administration, Compliance and Internal Audit regarding departmental processes. 16. Contribute to decisions for conversion activities related to the Appraisal Team resulting from acquisitions. 17. Aid in the ongoing development and effective usage of the department's appraisal management system. 18. Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. 19. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 20. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned .
