About The Position

Accountant - Construction Specialist Construction firm specializing in commercial and residential projects. With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to quality, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Full-time Accountant to join our financial team. Job Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Full-time Accountant with expertise in construction accounting and job costing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing costs, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making processes within our organization. This role will work directly with the Controller.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree
• Minimum 4 years in a recent staff accountant role
• Must have recent construction industry accounting background
• Company located on NW side of San Antonio, In office role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Prepare financial statements and reports
• Implement and maintain job costing systems for construction projects
• Track and analyze project costs, including materials, labor, and overhead
• Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules
• Monitor and report on project profitability
• Assist in the preparation of bid estimates and project budgets
• Manage construction-specific financial reporting requirements
• Develop and maintain job cost accounting systems
• Allocate direct and indirect costs to specific projects
• Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs
• Prepare job cost reports for management review
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking
• Identify areas for cost savings and process improvements
• Conduct financial analysis to support management decision-making
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior management
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
