About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department with day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role ensures accurate financial records, assists with month-end and year-end close processes, and helps maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 2+ years on an Accounting team in a corporate environment with multiple subsidiaries
  • Ability to use enterprise-level financial record-keeping software systems (Great Plains & NetSuite)
  • Month End Close experience
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs with high degree of proficiency in Excel
  • Internal customer service minded attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple mediums
  • Ability to remain in a stationary seated or standing position for various increments of time
  • Able to move about to access a variety of tools and office equipment
  • Able to consistently operate a computer or other electronic device
  • Able to ascend or descend a ladder, crouch or crawl
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, lift over head, twist and turn body when appropriate
  • Must be able to communicate clearly through both verbal and written form

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Support and assist the development team with construction requests and Permit renewals
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Preparation of financial statements and internal reports
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company procedures
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records
  • Perform other accounting or finance-related duties as assigned
