Butterfly is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of Butterfly Network. The Staff Accountant will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting and will primarily be responsible for executing core accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone early in their career who is looking to build a strong foundation in public company accounting within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience (internship or public accounting experience is a plus)
  • Foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred, but not required
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar) is a plus
  • SAAS and/or medical device industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, supporting the month-end and quarter-end close process
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items timely
  • Maintain and update supporting schedules for a variety of GL accounts
  • Assist in flux analysis by investigating and explaining period-over-period variances within the Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
  • Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Support internal controls and documentation in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Support the external audit process
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support automation initiatives
  • Leverage and experiment with AI and other digital tools to streamline workflows and enhance reporting capabilities
  • Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities
