About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records through timely and precise accounting practices. This role will play a key part in the monthly and year-end close processes, prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, and ensure compliance with US GAAP. The Staff Accountant will also provide audit support, assist with process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen accounting operations. In addition, this position will contribute to the development of more efficient systems and reporting tools, supporting the company’s overall financial health and operational success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting in a public accounting or corporate environment.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Exposure to audits, GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, AccountMate, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc. depending on your company).
  • Ability to prepare and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA
  • Experience in manufacturing or multi-entity environments.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with ERP upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries for month-end and year-end close.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform account reconciliations ( Fixed assets, payroll, inventory, etc.).
  • Support accurate and timely financial statement preparation.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliation
  • Assist with audit schedules and external auditor requests.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company accounting policies.
  • Support SOX/internal audit requirements (if applicable).
  • Strengthen internal controls through process improvement.
  • Inventory & Costing – common in manufacturing; maintain standard costs, analyze variances, and reconcile physical counts.
  • Fixed Assets – track capital projects, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Revenue Recognition – ensure proper timing and classification of revenue.
  • Tax Support – prepare schedules for income, sales/use, and property taxes.
  • Review work of staff accountants; provide mentoring and training.
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and external auditors.
  • Act as a bridge between staff accounting and the Controller.
