About The Position

Metropolitan Companies is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team! The Staff Accountant is responsible for the general accounting projects they are assigned. This role will work directly with the accounts payable, finance, treasury, and accounting teams to ensure accuracy on all projects. This position will report to the Accounting Manager. Requirements

HS Diploma or GED
3+ years previous experience
High proficiency in WORD, EXCEL and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance related field is preferred
VBA and financial modeling skills are a huge plus
Background in construction is a plus
Experience in Yardi, Sage, Procore, Nexus, or Marks a plus

Responsibilities

Assist accounting with month end close and ensure P&Ls are completed and accurate.
Create and review financial reporting and provide answers on variances in project performance.
Analyze project financials and understand the numbers, line by line.
Assist with creating presentations and updates to management according to deadlines.
Utilize a workflow system management with the accounting process.
Process and record internal bank transfers.
Assist with ad hoc projects and analytics.
Bank reconciliations.
Aide in the annual budgeting process and maintain P&L budgets monthly.
Continually improve processes and help in implementation of new systems and reporting tools.
