About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of Crossing Healthcare, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, bank deposits, managing consumable and non-consumable inventory and payment processing. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while ensuring compliance with FQHC regulations, federal and state requirements, and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and patient-related information.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and superior customer service.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfort working under pressure while maintaining accuracy and composure.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years’ experience in health care setting desired
  • Education or experience in accounting or bookkeeping desired
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical record (EMR) integration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the accounting system.
  • Record and reconcile daily bank deposits.
  • Process and code Accounts Payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Enter and reconcile payments into the General Ledger system.
  • Support supplementary billing and perform follow-up as assigned.
  • Maintain complete and organized accounting records in accordance with GAAP and compliance standards.
  • Assist with reconciliations of balance sheet and revenue/expense accounts.
  • Ensure segregation of duties, accuracy, and timeliness of financial transactions.
  • Support financial reporting requirements, including preparation of schedules for auditors and grantors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
