The Staff Accountant will be a key member of the Accounting Team, responsible for fixed assets, daily sales reconciling between Oracle and POS and submitting sales tax returns, and remitting sales tax to state and local tax collecting agencies. We are looking for an individual who can create efficiencies and work independently, with a background in the restaurant industry, and a strong understanding of accounting principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues in troubleshooting issues and overcoming challenges.
  • Willingness to dedicate the hours required to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven profession.
  • Candidates must be available to work onsite in the Los Angeles office at least four days per week.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably with multi-unit industries
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with a heavy focus on general ledger accounting

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA track is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with financial reporting a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts to identify and record necessary accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure timely completion of tasks aligned with weekly and period-end close schedules.
  • Assist with financial statement inquiries at both the store and corporate levels.
  • Prepare sales tax calculations and ensure the timely submission of periodic sales tax returns.
  • Manage fixed asset entries and balance sheet reconciliations, partnering with the Fixed Assets Manager to resolve discrepancies.
  • Compile schedules and supporting documentation for audit requests.
  • Contribute to special projects, ad hoc analyses, and reporting initiatives in collaboration with the management team.
