About The Position

MLB Network seeks a Staff Accountant with knowledge of accounting, excellent communications skills and an ability to work as part of a team. The Staff Accountant will follow accounting policies and practices and assist in the communication of these policies to the various departments at MLBN. Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of financial records in the General Ledger system including, but not limited to general ledger tasks and fixed assets for the monthly close process. Review coding on expense reports. Approve expense reports in accordance with Company policy up to a certain dollar level. Review invoice coding in accordance with the Company’s chart of accounts. Review accuracy of affiliate revenue and advertising revenue reports for the monthly close process. Assist with the financial statement audit. Support of the cash reconciliation process, including month end bank reconciliations, daily cash disbursements and bank balances. Prepare quarterly financial reports including Cash Flow. Maintain employee account information in Concur. Establish and maintain excellent business relationships with customers, employees, and other administrative departments in support of accounting procedures. Provide support as needed to other areas of the Finance and Accounting department (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, etc.). It is expected that the Staff Accountant will maintain and increase their knowledge in the accounting discipline, as well as with the overall business on an ongoing basis Support special projects as assigned. Other such duties as required.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate financial records, identify discrepancies, and take timely corrective actions.
  • Must be able to work independently (with minimal supervision) to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain collaborative working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
  • Must have strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.
  • Must have strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a General Ledger system such as Oracle Fusion is preferred.
  • CPA license (preferred).
