JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The basic function of the Part-Time Staff Accountant (reporting to the VP of Accounting) is to assist with the preparation of the monthly financial reports and to maintain accurate accounting records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equal experience
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Stong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor
- Demostrated initiative, sound judgment, and forward-thinking
Nice To Haves
- Experience with accounting software – Newstar or other construction software preferred
Responsibilities
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Record and reconcile credit card and bank transactions
- Post monthly transactions to the general ledger
- Reconcile financial and bank accounts accurately and timely
- Assist with month-end closings and financial report preparation
- Prepare and issue 1099s annually
- Maintain and monitor accounting systems to ensure proper documentation and compliance with policies
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency
- Support other accounting functions and special projects as assigned
