Based in Chicago with advisors across the U.S., we operate as a registered investment advisor (RIA). We are seeking a successful Staff Accountant who is a multi-tasker at heart, with strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset that thrives in a fast-paced and evolving organization. This individual will be within a sub-team within the larger Controllership team. Our ideal candidate is coachable, has the willingness to learn, and consistently performs at a high level under variable workloads within the expense team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, time management and multi-tasking ability, detail-oriented, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work with a team
  • Required - Excel (specifically VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and Data Sorting)

Responsibilities

  • Month-end close task ownership
  • Prepare detailed monthly bank reconciliations in Oracle and Blackline
  • Proactively review general ledger transaction details throughout the month to streamline month-end close timelines, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of information recorded
  • Balance sheet focus through broader account and activity reconciliations
  • Independently resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and recommend actions to enhance financial performance
  • Analyze actual results across multiple reporting segments and provide explanations for variance to plan and prior year (P&L + BS)
  • Expense accounting review
  • Support annual financial audits, ensuring all audit requirements and inquiries are met in a timely and accurate manner
  • Propose improvements to internal controls to mitigate risks and maintain compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and information flow across the organization
