About The Position

Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady, LLP is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Firm’s Accounting Department. This position will work closely with members of the accounting team and Firm leadership and will report to the Accounting Manager. The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional services setting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for upholding the Firm’s standards of quality, consistency, accuracy, and professionalism. This position requires experience in a professional services environment, excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of GAAP, with a preference for candidates familiar with legal accounting systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong data entry, reconciliation, and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and internal client service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently when needed.

  • Prior law firm or professional services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process and deposit incoming checks and ACH’s and ensure accurate application of funds.
  • Match and review bank feeds and assist with maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Manage and maintain General Ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile firm bank accounts and credit cards.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries, including payroll benefits, payroll journals, advanced client costs, and equity partner distributions.
  • Reconcile benefits, payroll taxes, and related accounts.
  • Assist with trust account reconciliation and ensure compliance with IOLTA/Bar rules.
  • Process and pay firm invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with audit reports.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist with other accounting projects as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in implementing best practices.
  • Provide support to the COO as needed.
