About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the organization by overseeing the accounts receivable process, ensuring accurate invoicing, timely collections, proper recording of payments, and effective communication with sponsors. The role also records and tracks revenue, prepares internal and league reports, and assists with forecasting. This role plays a key part in maintaining healthy cash flow and accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Accounting Degree
  • 1+ years of relevant Accounting work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or comparable tools
  • Skilled in preparing reports, spreadsheets, and presentations
  • Proficient with computers and standard office software
  • Comfortable learning and navigating new systems or applications
  • Able to input, track, and analyze data accurately
  • Comfortable adapting to technology updates and new digital processes
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Enters Invoices for new contracts into ERP system and ensures accuracy for amounts and due dates.
  • Sends out invoices to external customers and monitors accounts receivable including communication about outstanding balances and questions.
  • Maintain and reconcile sponsorship revenue forecast projections with the Corporate Partnerships sponsor report and the Deferred Revenue schedule.
  • Performs a detailed review of new sponsor contracts to ensure proper accounting and inputting
  • Processes credit card payments
  • Deposits cash and checks as needed
  • Submit Weekly Ticket Reports to the NFL from March through the end of the season.
  • Reconciles 50/50 Raffle revenues and submits required tax forms to ensure compliance with IRS regulations
  • Prepares unclaimed property letters and annual submission of unclaimed property report to the State of Florida and various other states.
  • Records monthly sales tax journal entries and prepares report with sales tax details for each game of the season that will be used in the monthly sales tax remittance.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and recognition of revenue to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Assist with external audit requests
  • Various other projects/tasks as needed
