About The Position

America Works of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a staff accountant who will focus on accounting matters for the Company and is a critical team player in the overall success of the finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Finance Manager & Chief Financial Officer, the Junior Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance Team for an employment services agency that helps low-income and underserved job seekers find and thrive in employment. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills and completed studies in Accounting.

Requirements

• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
• Working knowledge of US GAAP principles
• Experience creating journal entries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Results-oriented with ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Self-motivated, independent and resourceful
• Detail-oriented and capable of working in a hands-on environment
• Challenges existing processes and always looks to improve and find efficiencies

Nice To Haves

• Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting system a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record monthly billing of various government programs
• Support balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare and process journal entries
• Assist in implementation of policies and procedures
• Maintain and review documented procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls
• Prepare supporting documentation for the external auditors and other external parties
• Assist with ad-hoc assignments, special projects and new US GAAP accounting standard implementation
